Having a
ball with The British Forces Foundation

THIS year's British Forces Foundation ball raised more than £100,000 for the Charity – thanks in no small part to Lord Ashcroft. The long-time supporter of The BFF offered to buy all ten lots in the Loud Auction for £100k if it meant that everyone could get one with the evening! There was a standing ovation for Lord Ashcroft from the 300 or so guests when Charity Chairman Jim Davidson OBE, acting auctioneer, gratefully accepted the offer. This year's event, hailed as one of the best ever, was, for the first time, held at the Savoy in London. The wonderful setting was matched by a fabulous night's entertainment. After a champagne drinks reception in the River Terrace, guests were led through to The Lancaster Suite to dine in style. During the three course meal there was music from the Band of the Irish Guards, an impressive drumming display from Double Tap, and great comedy from Kev Orkian. To round off the evening there was dancing to Mama Said who joined forces with the Band of the Irish Guards. There was the ever-popular BFF Bingo, plus a raffle, and a short film documenting the recent work of the Charity. Then Jim took centre-stage to conduct the short-lived auction. Gold sponsors received gifts courtesy of Aristoc, Collection 2000 and Me Mine Ltd. The British Forces Foundation would also like to thank for their support: Alexon Brands, Armour Centre Bovington, Bluefish, Clarins, Edradynate Ltd, Ernle Estates Ltd, Fairmont Hotels, HRH The Prince of Wales, Judy Bennett PR, Karen Millen, Katherine Jenkins, Lancome, Mike Rutherford, RAF Motorsports Association, RMA Sandhurst Cadets, Strawberry PR, The SAS Regiment, The Rt Hon Lord Robertson and Wendy Richard MBE.
