Kosovo Bound

JIM Davidson OBE, Katherine
Jenkins and James Blunt completed a spectacular line-up for The British
Forces Foundation's latest show in Kosovo. "It was a night that will linger long in the memory; indeed it must go down as the most remarkable shows of its type that I have ever seen," said Maj Gen Chris Steirn. "The Kosovo people have a very real affinity for James Blunt and there is no doubt that those lucky enough to get tickets felt very privileged, as did the representatives from the other nations. An evening such as this does much to enhance our already high reputation." Among the guests were British military brass, troops, invited guests, NATO troops and workers of the British Office in Kosovo. "Jim and Katherine were fantastic, and so was James who had a very strong appeal with some of the 50 invited guests from the local community," said BFF Director Mark Cann. "He has a strong connection with the people of Kosovo and it was difficult for him to go back and relive his experiences – all being filmed for an American television documentary." Maj Gen Steirn added: "There is no doubt that the most appreciative group there was the British servicemen and women. There are not many of us here and it was a real fillip to morale to know that the crucial work being undertaken here is not forgotten at home." The show was made possible thanks to the generosity of Sir Donald Gosling and ESS Support Services. BAE Systems has agreed to sponsor the next BFF show which will hopefully be staged before Christmas. |
