Some 17 teams competed in the fourth BFF Golf Day Challenge, sponsored by Berenberg Bank, at the Royal Automobile Club’s Woodcote Park in Epsom.

It was the foursome from Jog’rs whose name will be engraved on the coveted trophy this year having beaten off some stiff opposition – their closest rivals were General Dynamics.

All the golfers enjoyed coffee and bacon butties before tee off which was followed by a thee-course meal after completing their rounds, during which the prizes were presented and the raffle drawn.

The British Forces Foundation would like to thank Berenberg Bank for their continued sponsorship of the Golf Day Challenge, and Mr Darius Sarosh of the Erach & Roshan Sadri Foundation for his help and support with the event.

The British Forces Foundation has named in the first round of charities that will receive a donation of a free campaign from Pell & Bales, the leading telephone fundraising agency for the not-for-profit sector, as part of its 21st anniversary year.

The British Forces Foundation has named in the first round of charities that will receive a donation of a free campaign from Pell & Bales, the leading telephone fundraising agency for the not-for-profit sector, as part of its 21st anniversary year.

The agency announced in February 2012 that it would run 21 free campaigns and invited interested charities to apply. The BFF is among the first ten charities that will benefit from the scheme, with more to be announced later in 2012.

Other charities to have been selected include: Avert, bibic, Beating Bowel Cancer, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Merlin, Royal London Society for the Blind, Breast Cancer Campaign, Tommy’s and UNICEF.

Pell & Bales will run several types of telephone campaign, including event registration and support calls, donor get donor initiatives, cash appeals and regular giving campaigns. Charities will benefit from truly integrated campaigns, making use of the phone and including website optimisation, SMS and email.

It is hoped that these first campaigns alone will raise as much as £300,000 for the selected charities.

Bethan Holloway, Client Services Director at Pell & Bales, says: “We are very excited to be working with these amazing charities and giving their fundraising efforts a much needed boost this year. It is particularly rewarding to be in a position to offer our support to charities who might not normally have the opportunity or the budget to undertake telephone fundraising. They will have the chance to test forward-thinking new technology and fundraising products at a time when many are finding it hard to fundraise.”

Congratulations to the intrepid team of 17 runners who pulled on their British Forces Foundation vest to take part in the 2012 Virgin London Marathon - and successfully completed the gruelling 26 and a bit miles.

Congratulations to the intrepid team of 17 runners who pulled on their British Forces Foundation vest to take part in the 2012 Virgin London Marathon – and successfully completed the gruelling 26 and a bit miles.

Months of training paid off in every sense of the word, as the team’s incredible efforts will have raised well in excess of £30,000 for The British Forces Foundation’s morale-boosting work for troops.

First across the line for The BFF was Abby Essien in a fantastic sub four hour time of 3:57:09. She was followed by Stephen West in 4:08:30, with Fraser McMillan just behind in 4:14:.12 and James Phipps and Jack Kyle across the line in 4:23:29 and 4:25:31 respectively. Satwant Sandhu also fnished the race in under four and a half hours with a time of 4:28:50.

Team BFF runners Andrew Battman, Ollie McComb and Franz Saez all completed the challenge before the five hours were up and they were followed by Richard Exon, Niki Arnold Drewett, Matthew Salter, Malcolm Durrant, Ian Owens, Lynda Harper, Catherine Owens and David Bellman.

Massive congratulations go to them all for their stirling efforts.

Do you have what it takes to tackle the challenge of the Virgin London Marathon? Have you got the determination to complete the 26.2 miles of the most famous race in the world? If you’re up for it then why pull on a BFF vest at the starting line in 2013. The charity is entering a team among the 30,000 plus runners.

We’re not necessarily looking for the fastest but certainly the most committed. Not only must our runners be prepared for the physical feat there’s also the sponsorship challenge too.

The BFF hopes that every member of its team will pledge to raise a minimum of £1,500 for the charity. The task is not for the faint-hearted but for those determined to succeed please visit the website address below.

If you want to apply to be a British Forces Foundation marathon runner go to www.crunch.org.uk/bff. When you register your interest you must indicate that you’ve come through the British Forces Foundation. There is a registration fee of £50. Please also email us at info@bff.org.uk to inform us of your application.

With a countdown of "three, two, one - let's go plundering", The British Forces Foundation's fourth Armed Forces families screening of Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! got underway.

With a countdown of “three, two, one – let’s go plundering”, The British Forces Foundation’s fourth Armed Forces families screening of Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! got underway.

Sure to be a new British classic, Cineworld’s ongoing partnership with The BFF continues to be a small but significant part of the Charity’s morale boosting efforts.

Cineworld once again kindly offered the use of their flagship Haymarket screen, with Sony & Aardman giving permission to screen their film (released nationwide only a few days before) and Real D provided the glasses to ensure that the screening could be enjoyed by all in glorious 3-D.

As ever, the aim of these family viewings is to pass on the British public’s gratitude for sacrifices made on their behalf. It is hoped that this home-front support, co-ordinated by Welfare Officers across London District and the surrounding area, reassures those on the frontline that they and their families continue to be appreciated.

“I am so glad I met the guys this afternoon at the QEH – what incredible courage and spirit they have,” said Ruth. “And the staff who look after them were utterly amazing, such tenderness and cheerfulness and beautiful care.

Fashion for the Brave’s spectacular fundraising dinner, taking place at The Dorchestera in London on September 20th, will benefit both the Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund and The British Forces Foundation.

The highlight of the charity’s gala evening will be a best of British-themed catwalk show introduced by the Telegraph‘s Hilary Alexander.

The 2012 event was launched in true style by model Jade Parfitt wearing a fabulous Corrie Nielsen dress and £1million Vintage Lace design diamond necklace from Boodles. She was also joined by fellow models Jasmine Guinness and Lyza Onysko.

As the project’s 2012 patron, Nielsen, was tasked with creating the dress for Vogue TV presenter Parfitt to wear iat the launch which took place at the Household Cavalry Barracks in Knightsbridge.

“The Fashion for the Brave Union Jack dress is inspired by Britain’s longstanding military history and even incorporates a handmade flag,” Nielsen. told Vogue. “This is an extremely important event for the country and being selected as the designer to create the showpiece dress is amazing.”

“I still can’t believe it. I’m beyond honoured and just so pleased that Hilary Alexander chose me. I’m putting my all into it and will not let the Household Calvary Operational Casualties Fund, The British Forces Foundation or the United Kingdom down.”
