26th June 2015
Sir Elton John, in partnership with The British Forces Foundation, gifted 1,000 concert tickets to members of the Armed Forces and their families for shows across the British Isles.
The concerts included those in Cardiff, Aberdeen and Gloucester in June and the tickets were eagerly snapped up.
Major Andrew Poë of Headquarters 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales wrote: "It was a collection of different people and units who received the tickets. Some were serving soldiers and some were wives etc ,with some who had other halves away so this was a wonderful way for them to enjoy a special evening. Everyone has really appreciated the very kind gesture of making so many tickets available. It was a really great night."
Sgt James Bews also wrote: "A huge thank you for the Elton John tickets I received last week as organised by your great charity. Myself and my wife attended a thoroughly enjoyable, great night of music in Aberdeen. Very much appreciated!"
And Cpl Calum Morrison of RAF Lossiemouth added: "Thanks to BFF….and Elton John for an amazing night!!! Voice and legs in bits the next day from singing and dancing…..that’s one more off my bucket list."
This was the third year in succession that Sir Elton has worked with The BFF to provide free entertainment to British servicemen and women. A huge thank you to him.
