It's gold for Wes

Royal Navy powerlifter Wes McGuinness, who is sponsored by the BFF, has won gold at the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Commonwealth Championships in Sun City, South Africa.

It was a dream realised for the Petty Officer and without doubt this year's pinnacle achievement.

Wes said: "I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank the BFF for the extraordinary support you’ve provided me throughout my powerlifting journey this year. BFF’s belief in me, both personally and financially, has been nothing short of transformative, and I truly cannot express how much it has meant."

The IPF Commonwealth Championships is one of the biggest IPF events of the year, with over 900 nominations combined.  "The opportunity to compete at this level, and ultimately reach the top, was something I could not have achieved without your steadfast backing," said Wes.

Looking ahead to 2025, Wes is more motivated than ever and has his sights set on even greater milestones.
