Andrew Pike CBE

Andrew is the Founder of his own advisory, public affairs and communications consultancy following a long career in public service.

From 2021 until autumn 2023, he was Director of No 10’s GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland Campaign - the world’s most successful overseas prosperity marketing initiative which has directly returned billions of pounds to the British economy. He worked within GREAT three times, growing it from its inception in Downing Street in 2012. 

From 2020, he was on loan to the Northern Ireland Office’s senior leadership team, including as member of its board and Executive Committee as Director of Communications and Engagement, with particular focus on UK transition from the European Union, political stability, the Union and Northern Ireland related terrorism.  

Previously, Andrew was Director of National Security Communications at No 10 and the Cabinet Office. Among other things, he led the cross government communications response to the Russian poisonings in Salisbury and Gulf tanker crisis.

As GCHQ's first Director of Communications and Engagement, from 2015 to 2017, he led an ambitious engagement programme designed to increase understanding of the crucial work the agency performs to keep people safe. This work was internationally unprecedented for an intelligence agency in its scope and impact. 

A career diplomat by background, previous Diplomatic Service assignments have included Ireland, Poland, Vanuatu, Libya, Brazil and Yemen.  He worked for almost six years, from 2004-2009 at the British Consulate General in New York as Consul with special responsibility for Northern Ireland and was main British government link with the White House, The Hill and the US government.  Before this, Andrew was in charge of communications for the BBC in England.

He was deeply immersed in the Northern Ireland Peace Process and was awarded an OBE in 2009 by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland.  He was awarded a CBE in the 2024 New Year Honours list for public service, with special emphasis on his work on benefit to the UK’s economy and national security. 

Andrew chairs a leadership programme at Windsor Leadership under the patronage of His Majesty the King.  He is a senior adviser to madebydyslexia.org, takeamoment.uk and battersea.org.uk.
