I’m just off to the airport to pick up some people flying in from America who are attending a party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The BFF with our Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales. It reminds me of the remarkable breadth of support we get from people all over the world, and the dinner on Monday night will be a celebration of that.

The anniversary dinner at Windsor Castle was a spectacular success and enjoyed by everybody lucky enough to attend.
The Prince of Wales gave an amusing and insightful speech, and paid moving tribute to everyone at The BFF, our supporters and, most importantly, the entertainers who have helped us with the body of work we can be justly proud of over the last ten years.

I see Combat Stress is in the news talking about the long-term psychological effects of the war in Afghanistan. I hope during the debate it won’t be forgotten that prevention is better than cure. That’s why The British Forces Foundation has long championed the decompression camp in Cyprus and the importance of some of our decompression shows back in the UK – and very much the shows we do out in operational theatres.

It was interesting to see some more token politics yesterday with the suggestion that the Conservatives are going to promote the donation of free tickets to various sporting and entertainments events.
This is something we’ve done at The BFF, and for a long time I have been calling for a one-stop website that distributes all discounts and free welfare provisions, by both the MoD and charities, to serving personnel, their families and veterans.
