The British Forces Foundation's planned visit to entertain troops in Afghanistan this week had to be aborted. Singers Katherine Jenkins and James Blunt, along with comedian Kev Orkian, were on their way to boost morale among frontline troops with a number of shows.

Unfortunately, the trip failed due to technical faults on two aircraft. All contingencies that could have been put in place were put in place but nonetheless the attempt to visit the frontline on this occasion was unsuccessful.

"We are appreciative to everyone for all the effort they made on our behalf to get us there, and to those who looked after us during what was a deeply frustrating time," said BFF Director Mark Cann.

"We remain extremely grateful to the major celebrities who are willing to give up their time for free to to assist our service personnel on operations and who behaved with great dignity and patience. As of now we begin work on our next project."
