BFF iPads for troops in isolation

24th March 2021

Back to News

The BFF has come to the aid of troops returning from Operations overseas and being placed in Covid isolation.

Armed Forces personnel have been returning from Red List countries to 10 days quarantine alone in military accommodation without television, electronic devizes or even mobile phones for some - raising concerns about how to maintain welfare support and morale.

The BFF has stepped in and purchased a number of iPads to help keep them occupied and the boredom at bay during confinement.

"We're there to provide entertainment any way we can," said the BFF's Director Mark Cann. "The gesture has been hugely appreciated and we're just pleased to be able to help make life a little more comfortable."

Captain Toby Jefferson, Director Crisis Operations Cell, said the BFF had delivered beyond expectations. "The iPads will enable those in quarantine to engage wih the staff, access Welfare services and connect with familes over video. They will also now be able to participate in organised PT in rooms, engage with other personnel in quarantine and watch entertainment services.

"The British Forces Foundation's assistance has therefore been critical to supporting the moral component and enabling us to maintain cohesion and motivation for those isolated in quarantine."
