Charlie beats Jessie J to a head shave

18th March 2013

Fifteen year old Charlie Bowdler has head her hair shaved off to raise money for charity - including The British Forces Foundation.

Before Jessie J had even taken to the stage for Friday night's Comic Relief television marathon to sacrifice her locks, young Charlie was already sporting the new look.

The pupil from Priory School in Shrewsbury has already collected more than £900 in support of The BFF, Comic Relief and Charlie's month-long stint working with under privileged children through international volunteers next year. Even her hair was donated to the charity Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children, boys and girls, who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Charlie's mum Lorraine, who is running this year's London Marathon for The BFF, said: "It was all her own doing and idea, I tried and failed to talk her out of it, of course being worried about how she would feel afterwards, but there really was no need for me to be worried.

"She has organised everything herself and collected in all her sponsor money herself, given assemblies in school and spent her weekends fundraising for the last couple of months! She really is an inspiration."

If people would like to sponsor Charlie they can contact her mum Lorraine at lorraine.m.bowdler@btinternet.com
