Massive congratulations to members of Team BFF who all successfully completed the 100 miles Prudential RideLondon cycle challenge.
The ten riders conquered everything that the Olympic course through the Surrey countryside could throw at them.
First across the finishing line for Team BFF was Tom Everard in a hugely impressive time of 5:43.34, with Andrew Fleming just over two minutes behind in 5:45.53.
Next home was the Charity's own Director, Mark Cann, who also finished the course in under six hours with a time of 5:56.19. More importantly he smashed his fundraising target of £10,000, securing donations worth £13,500.
Five more BFF riders completed the challenge within half an hour of each other. Leading the way was Rory O'Neill (6:31.33) followed by Alex Hawes (6:36.24), William Warden (6:49.49), Andrew Dunn (6:56.00) and Francis Naumann (6:56.41). Completing the team were Gerry Slora (7:39.36) and Richard Cook (no time posted).
During the cycle chakkenge one of the Team BFF riders was passed by a young and fit bloke who then slowed down and waited for him to catch up to say: “I just wanted to tell you that you are riding for a really great charity. The BFF came to us and did a show, the blokes loved it and it made a big difference to us, how we saw ourselves and our morale. Thank you”.
No idea who he was or what unit he is with. The only clue he gave was that The BFF show had two comedians on the bill who were “really rude and spot on” - which unfortunately doesn't really narrow it down!
Many thanks to all the riders for their fabulous efforts and to those who supported them in their endeavours to raise money for The BFF.
