Superstar Ed Sheeran entertained UK troops and their families in Cyprus with The British Forces Foundation.
The Charity took Ed to meet and perform for those based at Dhekelia as well as soldiers deployed on the UN peace-keeping mission on the island.
More than 1,100 people from the British military community were also lucky enough to be given tickets to the final show of Ed's world-wide tour which took place on Sunday at Larnaca’s Land of Tomorrow venue.
“For Ed to give his time and exceptional talent for four hours between two shows is an extraordinary gesture that made an incredible impact – he’s the best.” said BFF Director Mark Cann.
At the UN base Commanding Officer 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment, Lt Col Robert Mackay, said: “It was brilliant. I have never seen the soldiers so immersed, so in the moment as they were when he played for them."
At Dhekelia garrison Ed spent the afternoon speaking with soldiers, signing autographs, taking selfies and sharing stories. This was followed by an intimate acoustic performance held at Dhekelia rugby pitch. During the show, Ed played some of his most-loved songs for a 500-strong audience of active-duty service members and their families.
“It was an absolute privilege to host Ed and have him here spending time with the fantastic people who make up British Forces Cyprus,” said Commanding Officer 1Rifles, Colin Oliver.
“These men and women sacrifice a lot, and we’re hugely grateful to Ed and the British Forces Foundation team for making the time to visit British Forces Cyprus.”
A huge thank you to Ed!!!
