Eliza Doolittle & the Royal Marines

December 20, 2013

Chart-topping singer/songwriter Eliza Doolitle headlined an unforgettable British Forces Foundation show for Royal Marines in Taunton.

The crowd of 600 from 40 Commando went wild for the Christmas extravaganza which culminated in Eliza’s show-stopping performance.

The packed BFF show was opened by comedian and compere for the evening John Robins. He introduced the first musical delight of the night – the fabulous singer and former Hollyoaks star Alice Barlow.

It was then time for more full-on comedy courtesy of the hilarious Craig Campbell followed by the musical madcap antics of the Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue.

Eliza then took to the stage to deafening roars and wowed the crowd with a mixture of former hits and tracks off her new album. There was plenty of banter too between her and the hugely appreciative Commandos.

The British Forces Foundation would like to thank her and all the acts who combined to produce an amazing night’s entertainment that will be talked about for some time to come.

The BFF roadshow rolled into Lympstone and the Commando Training Centre the very next day to serve up another festive feast to remember.

THis time the 600-strong audience – many of them new recruits – tucked into their Christmas dinner (having been met and served drinks by British film hearthrob actor Tom Hardy) before the show got underway.

It was opened by West End show singing trio The Show Must Go On. Stalwarts from the previous night’s concert – John Robins, Alice Barlow, Craig Campbell and The Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue – combined to produce a wonderful combination of quality entertainment and the evening was rounded off with a fabulous set from the band Fully Funktional.

Again, the charity would like to thank all the performers involved, production crew and those in the military at both venues who helped ensure that the shows were a resounding success.
