Family fun in February

26th February 2019

Back to News

The BFF Panto Bus hit the road again in February to entertain military families across the south.

Audiences at no fewer than 13 military bases enjoyed the fun of Goldilocks, the Three Bears & the Mayor of Porridgeton during the schools' half-term holidays.

This tour began at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire and finished at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall, visiting the likes of Army HQ, HMS Excellent, RMB Poole, RAF St Mawgan and HMS Drake en route.

Another location was Thorney Island which has a population of more than 1,500 service personnel and dependants across three commands. The Unit Welfare Officer Major Scott Wilkinson of 12th Regiment Royal Artillery, explained: "As a location with sub units continually rotating through deployments to the South Atlantic and Eastern Europe, America and Canada there is a constant presence of separated parents and children with mums and dads deployed for six months or more.

"The pantomime gave a moment of relief from separation, providing the children with an experience that they will remember, and will no doubt be the subject of many a phone call with their deployed parent. It was an outstanding performance to approximately 200 parents and children which was thoroughly enjoyed by all."
