JIM Davidson OBE, Founder of The British Forces Foundation, was at his world class best when the Charity journeyed to Faslane to entertain 350 submariners and other personnel.
When a comedienne failed to show to complete the line-up, it was left to Jim and singer Hollie Kennedy to give the audience what they wanted - and they rose to the challenge magnificently.
Captain of the Faslane Flotilla, Capt Steve Garrett, was full of praise for The BFF event. “These shows are very beneficial for the servicemen and servicewomen who are able to attend," he said.
"They provide a much needed opportunity for those in theatre, such as Afghanistan and Iraq, to unwind, but Saturdy’s show was immensely valuable for those of the Service who get on and do all the other jobs that are perhaps not quite as dangerous or newsworthy but which demand equally tough sacrifices; some of the sailors had just returned from an 11 week patrol with no sight of daylight, and only one 40-word email a week from their families.
"We cannot overestimate the importance of these shows for the maintenance of morale of all our servicemen and women."
BFF Director, Mark Cann, said: "Jim pitched the humour perfectly and the audience were very appreciative. The Charity always does a good show but there was something extra special about this one which I can't quite put my finger on."
When it comes to boosting morale and creating unforgettable experiences for our troops, The British Forces Foundation has always been at the forefront. We understand that every gathering deserves a touch of magic and we are here to make it happen smoothly and effortlessly. Read our testimonials.
