24th January 2012

Back to News

Five fearless men are to be stripped bare of hair from the neck down all in the name of charity. The brave quintet are even selling off the chance for anyone who fancies a go at waxing them for just £3 a strip. All the money raised will be split between to the morale-boosting military charity, The British Forces Foundation, and the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. Landlord of The River Parrett Inn, Bridgwater, Luke Adams has been joined by soldier Carl Tinsley, plus Michael Chapman, Chris Cope and Glenn Powell for the charity waxing which takes place at the pub on Saturday 4 February at 7pm. So far they have raised about £700 in sponsorship but are pushing to reach the £1,000 target on the night through selling strips and filling collection tins. The British Forces Foundation teams up with national breweries and pub companies to send each of the 23,000 troops away on Operations a free drinks voucher to use on their return home. Members of the public are urged to play their part in the ‘Buy Our Heroes a Drink’ campaign by texting the word ‘Heroes’ to 70099. Text messages cost £3 plus one message at their standard network rate.
