Harry Potter exclusive screening for families

The British Forces Foundation’s second annual Armed Forces exclusive cinema screening - primarily for the families of those away serving on the front-line - was a huge hit with everyone who attended.

The very special morning showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 on Sunday 21st November was all thanks to the ongoing support of Cineworld (who again provided their flagship Haymarket screen) and Warner Bros. Entertainment UK (offering up the must-see film of the season).

Amongst the hundreds of those who attended were 78 people from D Squadron The Household Cavalry, only recently deployed to Afghanistan, who travelled to London from Windsor to enjoy the film. They were joined by their Commanding Officer Lt Col Harry Fullerton who attended with his wife and children:

“It is such a simple but effective way of showing these families that they are appreciated, particularly at this time of year. When word reaches D Squadron in Afghanistan, I am sure the guys will like to hear that the role of their wives and children has been highlighted in this way.”

After a few words on the Charity and the generosity of Cineworld and Warner Bros. Entertainment UK, Ben Vestey from The British Forces Foundation finished his introduction with a special message to the children in the audience: “You know how brave your parents are, whether they’re on the front-line or looking after you on the home front."

He added: "It’s important to pass on that The BFF is entirely independent of senior officers or politicians and only exists due to the generosity of the British public.  These people who have funded us over the years want to do more than just say they appreciate their Armed Forces, they want us as a Charity to demonstrate this support and today is a great example of this principle in action.”
