HM The Queen at BFF cricket match

13th July 2022

Back to News

Her Majesty The Queen crowned a memorable day at the Royal Household versus British Forces Foundation cricket match in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Queen graced the event with her presence to enjoy the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas performing Beating Retreat. She was joined by BFF Chairman Laurie Mansfield, BFF Trustees Admiral Sir James Perowne and Lieutenant General Peter Pearson, BFF Ambassador Darius Sarosh and sponsors Sir John Spurling and Mr Alan Rind.

It marked a special moment for BFF supporters who attended the day, particularly in this Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee year.

The day - part of the Royal Household Cricket Club's week-long Festival - began with a Pimm's reception followed by a fabulous hot buffet with hog roast and barbecue.

The cricket match itself was 20/20 format and the BFF side was captained by England cricketing legend John Emburey. And it was the captain who scored the final run off the final ball of the day to secure a remarkable draw with honours even.

The BFF would like to thank all those involved in making the event such a huge success - in particular Sir John Spurling, Mr Alan Rind, RHCC Chairman Philip Audaer and RHCC Life Vice President Chris Tilly, Mr Darius Sarosh and Mr Darren Lowe.
