Reigning Formula One Champion Jenson Button paid a surprise visit with The British Forces Foundation to injured troops at Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre.
The McLaren driver proved hugely popular among the servicemen and nurses alike as he met them going about their daily routines including physiotherapy sessions, group exercises and getting used to newly fitted prosthetics.
Mark Cann, Director of The British Forces Foundation, said: "Everyone was delighted to meet a true British sporting legend regardless of whether they were Formula One fans or not.
"Jenson was a joy to take around - handing out McLaren baseball caps by the bucketload - and he was very humbled by the experience."
Recently, The BFF accompanied Hollywood superstar Tommy Lee Jones on an 'inspirational' visit to those undergoing rehab at Headley Court; and others in the past have included Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, David Walliams, Ben Fogle and Jimmy Carr.
"I never ceased to be amazed by the fortitude of those people I meet at Headley Court - and by some of the stories," said Mark Cann. "Like today, only in the military would you meet someone in rehab who is a submariner who injured himself while sky-diving!"
When it comes to boosting morale and creating unforgettable experiences for our troops, The British Forces Foundation has always been at the forefront. We understand that every gathering deserves a touch of magic and we are here to make it happen smoothly and effortlessly. Read our testimonials.
