Katherine Jenkins and The BFF Ball

28th June 2007

Back to News

THIS year's British Forces Foundation ball raised more than £44,000 for the Charity – thanks to our loyal supporters.

The 2007 event was, for the first time, held at the Park Lane Hotel in London, and the wonderful setting was matched by a fabulous night's entertainment including the fabulous Katherine Jenkins.

The Welsh mezzo soprano mesmerised the audience with three spellbinding songs which captured the mood of the night.

And there was a surprise in store for guests when The British Forces Foundation's President, Baroness Thatcher, arrived to take her place at the top table in the ballroom.

It was a champagne reception on arrrival and a chance to see the complete range of lots in the Charity's silent and loud auctions. When guests were called to dinner they were welcomed by The BFF's Founder Jim Davidson OBE.

There followed music by the Band of the Grenadier Guards, a game of BFF bingo and a raffle. After the delicious three-course meal, Katherine took to the stage for her amazing performance.

A short film documenting the recent work of the Charity came next and then the loud auction which, under the watchful hammer of auctioneer Christopher Holden of Bonhhams, raised in excess of £25,000.

To round off the evening there was dancing to the Band of the Grenadier Guards.

Gold table sponsors received gifts courtesy of Butlers Irish Chocolates, Goodsphere Ltd, Ralph Lauren, Montagne Jeunesse and Wallpaper.

The British Forces Foundation would also like to thank for their support: Army Air Corps, BMW Park Lane UK Military Sales, Earthline Ltd, Editworks, Ernle Estates Ltd, Float, Food Matters, Hackett, HRH The Prince of Wales, Lakeland, Land Warfare Centre, Miss Katherine Jenkins, Mont Blanc, Mr Julian Clary, Mr Jim Davidson OBE, Mr Rick Price, Mr Mark Somerville, Mr Willie Thyne, Naim, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, RMA Sandhurst Cadets, Royal Marines Museum Southsea, Sir David Richards, The SAS Regiment, The Rt Hon Lord Robertson and Warehouse.
