18th April 2011
Congratulations to the intrepid team of 17 runners who pulled on their British Forces Foundation vest to take part in the 2011 Virgin London Marathon - and successfully completed the gruelling 26 and a bit miles. Months of training paid off in every sense of the word, as the team's incredible efforts will have raised well in excess of £20,000 for The British Forces Foundation's morale-boosting work for troops. First across the line for The BFF was Gemma Cory in a fantastic sub four hour time of 3:57:09. She was followed by Nick Evans in 4:06:44, with Nick Lamb hot on his heels in 4:09:22 and Nigel Carr just over a minute further back in 4:10:26. BFF Ambassador, Anthony White, finished the marathon in a very respectable 4:32:12, just 36 seconds behind Rob Sedgwick who crossed the line as the clock showed 4:31:36. Ian Camera, Sarah Cartwright, Suzanne Farnworth, James Hughes, Lia Loftus, Victoria Martin, Craig McEwen, Georgina Parnell, Jason Woods, Samantha Hughes and Andrew Martin were all up to the challenge and successfully completed the course. Massive congratulations go to them all for their stirling efforts, and commiserations to Martin Copeland (injury) and Jack Kyle (illness) who were unable to take part in this year's race. Do you have what it takes to tackle the challenge of the Virgin London Marathon? Have you got the determination to complete the 26.2 miles of the most famous race in the world? If you're up for it then why pull on a BFF vest at the starting line on April 25th 2010. The charity is entering a team among the 30,000 plus runners. We're not necessarily looking for the fastest but certainly the most committed. Not only must our runners be prepared for the physical feat there's also the sponsorship challenge too. The BFF hopes that every member of its team will pledge to raise a minimum of £1,500 for the charity.
