Mayor’s online auction for BFF
March 7, 2021
Here’s your chance to support an online fundraising auction for not one but two exceptional military charities.
The Mayor of Bracknell Forest Council, Cllr Ash Merry, herself a proud former Army Officer, has chosen the BFF and SSAFA (Soldiers Sailors and Airmen Families Association) to benefit from the event – but she needs your help.
Her online auction will be held from June 21 – 27 and Cllr Merry is now asking generous supporters to pledge an auction item. “Between them, BFF and SSAFA provide vital services to enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of serving military personnel veterans and their families,” she said.
“I think we can all agree that in this global crisis, our servicemen and women have been magnificent and played a hugely important part in running testing stations, building Nightingale hospitals and managing the logistics of the Covid vaccination roll-out. This is our chance to say thank you and recognise our extended Armed Forces family who consistently put country and community before self.”
Over the last 12 months, charities and non-profit organisations have faced significant challenges as the demand for their services has increased and the ability and opportunity to hold events to fundraise has decreased.
“This year has been a year like no other and our usual fundraising activities have been curtailed due to the pandemic,” said Cllr Merry. “This online auction will therefore serve as my major fundraising event and all funds raised will be split equally between my two charities.”
If you are able to help the Mayor by pledging an auction item, please contact her office: Mayor.Parlour@Bracknell-Forest.gov.uk
