Thousands of British military families across the UK and Cyprus were treated to some delightful Christmas magic courtesy of the BFF Panto Bus.
The casts of Aladdin, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty served up traditional festive fun to young and old alike at more than 60 bases during the build-up to the holiday season.
The shows, generously supported by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity as well as the Veterans' Foundation, were enjoyed by all.
"The cast, as always, were fantastic and the families had a great time." said Sarah Magee| of the Army Welfare Service Aldershot. "They entertained over 220 people in three locations and we saw families from our SEND group loving the relaxed performance - which we would love to replicate in 2026 as it was a huge hit. We also engaged with the diverse community and many of them had never been to a pantomime before."
Base Warrant Officer Mark Swift at RNAS Culdrose said: "Our performance was very well attended – we nearly filled the cinema – and everyone had a great time. I have had lots of messages of thanks from families. It was a great opportunity for everyone to get together and begin the festive period in style."
At Blandford Camp Keith Dawson said: "As the Garrison Welfare Officer, I am always seeking ways to enhance the lived experience for our community. Blandford Camp is situated in a relatively remote location, which makes opportunities to boost morale especially valuable. The annual pantomime is one such occasion that brings joy and connection to our community, and it is always eagerly anticipated."
Ian Whitehead, Community Development Officer at RAF Cranwell said: "This event signals the start of 'Christmas' on the Station. It brings family and friends together and gives the opportunity for the People Families Support Team to engage with service personnel and their families to find out what support might be required during the festive season and to let them know what is happening on Station over the next few weeks."
Sgt Mat Whiteside of RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus said: "It is one of the highlights of the year, with over 800 people attending the two family shows. The performances give people a chance to have 'a bit of home' here overseas. Furthermore, it brings the community together and allows for new friendships/socialising to form amongst people living here, as that is the hardest part many find when moving overseas, the isolation from long term friends and family. Your shows offer a way to come together as a community."
Sgt Samantha Lister at RAF Digby said: "This year’s pantomime not only provided entertainment but served as a reminder of the value of community spirit, bringing personnel and families together for enjoyment after a long year, leading up to the Christmas break. With the laughter echoing into the night, its safe to say this event will be fondly remembered and brilliantly kick started the festive season, here’s to many more events and the panto returning next year. Oh no it won’t, oh yes it will!"
