Show for Duke of Lancaster's Regiment

7th June 2013

Back to News

The British Forces Foundation visited Catterick to put on a 'welcome home' show for The 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment recently returned from Afghanistan.

The sports hall in Somme Barracks was transformed into a concert venue during the course of the afternoon in time for a 600-strong audience and an array of quality talent.

In fact, the Regiment opened the show with their very own drum display. Much of the evening's fantastic entertainment was provided by BFF stalwarts - the comic genius of Kev Orkian, Jamie Sutherland and Kane Brown (who was out on tour with The BFF to Afghanistan earlier this year).

The fresh new face among them was former Hollyoaks actress and The Voice UK contestant Alice Barlow. She received a rapturous reception when she opened the second half of the show and after her performance the audience demanded an encore.

WO2 John Grimes who helped organise the event said: "The show that 1 Lancs received was everything that I hoped it would be and more. The night was a great success."

The show had something for everyone - stand-up comedy, musical comedy, music and also dancing courstey of The Lancz Girls.

A huge thank you to all the acts and congratulations to the 1st Bn The Duke of Lancaster's on a job well done on Op Herrick. Welcome home.
