Sir Elton John gave away more than 1,000 tickets to troops through The British Forces Foundation for six of his recent concerts on his UK tour.
Men and women from all three Services – along with some of their families – enjoyed the terrfic shows, from Taunton to Falkirk.
"On behalf of the lads from 40 Commando RM, to say a very heartfelt thank you for allocating the tickets we received on the night," wrote CSgt Geoff Power. "The weather was against us but didn’t dampen our spirits and we had a great central view of the stage."
Wing Commander Neville Clayton, Officer Commanding Base Support Wing Royal Air Force Leuchars, also wrote a letter of thanks to The BFF for tickets to Sir Elton's concert at Falkirk Football Club: "With the ongoing operations in Afghanistan and the well documented cuts, it is a challenging time for everyone involved with the Armed Forces so it is hugely gratifying that we have the BFF doing their very best to provide morale boosting opportunities like this one.
"Those of us with stripes on our shoulders continually beat the drum encouraging our people to strike a healthy work life balance to ensure that, when we are at the sharp end, we can do the job required of us, so getting the chance to experience first hand a musical legend like Sir Elton provides just the right kind of fillip. I and many of my colleagues from the Royal Air Force in Scotland and their families enjoyed a tremendous evening's entertainment."
The British Forces Foundation would like to thank Sir Elton and his team for their fantastic generosity.
