BFF supporter and renouned artist Paul Karslake has sadly died after contracting COVID-19.
Paul, 61, had been rushed to hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties. His sister, radio dj Jo Wood, confirmed this week that his death was caused by the coronavirus.
At last year's BFF Ball, Paul generously donated one of his paintings of Sir Winston Churchill for the auction to raise funds for the Charity. He and his wife Sandra were at the event with their friends BFF Ambassador Ken Girkin and his wife Lindy.
Paul had studied at SEEVIC College and Southend College of Art and Technology before beginning to work with his father Michael who was an architectural model maker. He spent four years in California, working for the LA Art Studios, CBS Television and Disney Studios, with whom he later collaborated on the EuroDisney project.
Throughout his career Paul enjoyed several solo exhibitions and was awarded accolades including the Evening Standard's Environment Award in April 1990.
The Karslake Centre, a centre for arts education, was opened at the Cornelius Vermuyden School and Arts College in September 2005.
Paul leaves behind his wife Sandra and their children.
